Historic Temple
The original temple section, likely constructed before January 22, 1898. Learn proper prayer etiquette and spiritual practices.
This historic temple section traces its origins to the early Hokkien pioneers and the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Hokkien Association. It is a place of long-standing devotion where worshippers have offered incense and prayers through three centuries. Here is how you can start praying: (i) Begin with a respectful bow at the entrance or before the main altar. (ii) Light incense and hold it between your hands while offering your wishes to Guanyin, Buddha, and the other deities. (iii) Gently place the incense into the burner, then bow again and offer a silent prayer of gratitude, compassion, or blessing. The old hall remains a living testament to the temple’s resilience, especially after surviving major fires with its sacred statues intact.
